Biggest improvement for SDR content is I can output everything as LLDV, with the Dune doing the proper tone mapping for SDR to LLDV conversion, then the HDFury upscaling to UHD if 1080p and remapping the LLDV signal to HDR10. Seems smart as the only benefit of HLG is one signal that any display can recognize and display using the proper tone mapping for both SDR and HDR displays.
Not sure why but played some YouTube video and for some reason it showed up as HLG on my HDFury.
Profile 4 is STD (display does tone mapping) so that won't work in my setup. I have confirmed the following.ĭolby Vision Profile 5, Profile 7 (FEL and MEL), and profile 8.

The built in movie scraper is good, not Plex level good but still good. It even has lip sync correction for forward and back which is new to me, typically you can just delay in milliseconds, not make it play before.

Judder, there is none, it plays back perfectly, full BR menus although I typically jump right into the movie, it switches resolution and framerates without any HDMI dropouts at all. There are several picture benefits over it and the Shield and event the ATV4K. I ran my shield through it and Plex actually work but as soon as you try to stream something it will throw an error due to HDCP. You can record (non copyrighted material). I ran my NUC through the HDMI input so it's nice to be able to just hit a button and it goes to the input port. I do have to say that the Dune is awesome for local content and to get 4k HDR YouTube but that is it. Not sure why everyone wants to pay Dolby when there is a free standard but HDR10+ content is severally lacking.

Bohemian Rhapsody ISO file looked amazing. My Samsung is 1700-1800 (depends on display, have not done an actual luminance rating) but it's more then bright enough. 10000 nits would be so blinding, I couldn't even imagine 4000. I find it funny that any display will accept an LLDV signal, although it will look washed out unless your display is DV compatible. Works best on my UST projector but don't have that setup at the moment. Essentially, iFEL sounds like 12 bit is jus a "make you feel good" type of situation because the display is only 10 bit but can accept a 12 bit signal. Plex is hit.or.miss but I e seen the word HYBRID thrown around a lot lately.

The only media player I have found that consistently 0lays MKV DV files on the Shield Pro is Just (Video) Player and it's bare bones as far as settings are concerned.
